I have a log stove that runs all my central heating and hot water.

Hi, I just wondered whether you'd like to include a link to our site.

Sustainable Energy ~ Photovoltaics

Using Photovoltaics (PV) it is possible to utilise light to generate electricity. Simplistically, electricity is generated by the photons from sunlight colliding with electrons within the PV solar cell.

It is an essential technology in the development of sustainable methods of electricity generation.

PV cells operate in both direct sunlight and indirect or diffuse sunlight and therefore are effective even in temperate climates and overcast skies, not only on sunny days.

Most implementations of PV are grid connected systems with no need for battery storage (batteries being largely unsustainable in their construction are best avoided). These systems are connected to the electricity grid and electricity not consumed by the owner of the PV system can be sold back to the local supplier. In effect the grid acts as the storage system for the generated electricity.
